My goal is to help individuals of all abilities and their families:
- overcome behavior and communication challenges
- learn new skills
- increase independence and
- improve the quality of their relationships.
My experience:
- Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Nebraska-Omaha
- 20 years of experience in community outreach on healthy relationships, supporting families and special needs issues
- 10+ years of experience in providing Individual and Family Therapy addressing challenging behaviors and social-communication problems
- 5 years of experience in teaching classes on healthy relationships, parenting, writing and using sensory supports
- Trained in PCIT (Parent Child Interaction Therapy), FBA (Functional Behavior Assessments) and BSP (Behavior Support Plans)
- Experienced in using AAC (Augmentative Assistive Communication) and other adaptive tools
My approach:
- I primarily use Cognitive and Behavior-based principles, infusing Sensory-based strategies, Attachment theory and Mindfulness techniques as appropriate
On a personal note…
- I am married and have two amazing children, one of whom has Autism and Epilepsy.
- I love music, sports, and reading
- I am a Husker and a Maverick!
